Joint project on Sustainable Development Goals No 16 of the Team Lead, Student Affairs, Usman Institute of Technology (UIT) and cofounder 'Chai Ki Dukaan' Ramsha Baloch has been selected to be presented at the United Nations in New York.
The UIT affiliated with NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi, has announced it, recently.
The project presentation at UN headquarters emphasises a holistic approach to achieving sustainable development for all. 'Chai ki Dukaan' is a social media initiative launched by two friends Ramsha Baluch and Rudrani Dasgupta from Karachi and Kolkata, respectively. It offers a platform for young people from both countries to share their tales of friendship.
The initiative draws inspiration from the UN's Sustainable Development Goals No 16 for the promotion of peaceful societies. It serves as a democratic space for young Indians and Pakistanis to communicate with each other while highlighting the human perspective of people who have traditionally been labelled as 'enemies.' It claims to be a safe space where anyone can share anecdotes, art or any form of human expression promoting a friendly relationship between neighbours. Initially Chai ki Dukaan was created as a reaction to the Pulwama incident in February 2019, which was a sobering reminder of the deep-rooted, historic.
