The ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday termed opposition parties' decision to oust chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani an attempt to weaken the federation. Federal Minister for Communications Murad Saeed said it was quite unfortunate that instead of strengthening the federation, the opposition was conniving against chairman Senate, which was not a good omen.
"The opposition parties have a track record of making a hue and cry for their own vested interests. They [opposition parties] never showed any grace in the parliamentary proceedings. And now, these parties have joined hands to de-seat the chairman Senate," he lamented. Taking a jibe at Pakistan Peoples Party's (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, he said the nation had given PTI the mandate to hold those corrupt elements accountable. He expressed resolve not to back off from its commitment to reduce governmental expenses and sending the plunders of national wealth to prison.
He said PPP had brazenly opposed and defied the government's austerity drive, adding the party which made tall claims of giving "roti, kapra aur makan (bread, cloth and shelter)" did only one thing which was plundering national exchequer ruthlessly. Saeed stated that the incumbent government proved to be a barrier in their way of corruption; hence, their tirade against the PTI-led government was understandable.
He said that a "flock" of few criminals was trying to mar democratic norms in a bid to safeguard their corruption. Slamming Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, he said the "accidental" chairman had nothing to do with the people as he was doing all that "drama" to defend his father's despicable crimes.
