Spokesman for Punjab Chief Minister, Shahbaz Gill on Tuesday said the provincial government has decided to provide diet food to ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif at Kot Lakhpat Jail. The spokesman said Nawaz's food will be prepared as per report of the doctors and experts. We banned homemade food for the ex-premier as it was unhealthy for him, he told.
Shahbaz Gill said Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz can go to the court if she wants but nothing will happen against the law.Earlier, the CM spokesman said Nawaz Sharif has to stay in jail according to its manual which does not permit any accused to get food from home. He said that being a criminal, Maryam Nawaz can't lecture public about what's right. On July 8, while reacting to the ban on homemade food for Nawaz, Maryam had threatened to go on hunger strike if Sharif will not be allowed homemade food. She claimed that the incarcerated former premier has refused to eat jail-food.
She went on to say that she would approach the court if the government didn't withdraw ban on homemade food. "If I don't get help from the court, then I will stage a sit-in outside Kot Lakhpat Jail and would even go on a hunger strike," she concluded.
