Taking strong notice of restriction on provision of homemade food to Nawaz Sharif in Kot Lakhpat prison, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president and Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif Monday said that the government is doing injustice by depriving the former PM of this facility.
"Nawaz Sharif is a three-time elected prime minister of this country and this attitude towards him is inhumane. Nawaz should immediately be provided home-cooked meals," he said, adding: "Nawaz is a heart patient and requires homemade food to maintain his health."
Shahbaz warned that if anything happened to Nawaz Sharif, Imran Khan would be responsible. "This is the level of inhumanity which the government is showing by banning homemade food for Nawaz," he said, adding: "This shows the level of Imran Khan's intelligence. The PML-N vice-president Maryam Nawaz has threatened to go on a hunger strike if Nawaz was not allowed homemade food. "Not only will I move the Lahore High Court, but I will also stage a protest outside the prison if the ban on homemade food is not lifted within 24 hours," she warned.
"I do not trust the food provided to Nawaz by the jail authorities they can mix anything in his food," Maryam said. On the other hand, sources claimed that as per jail manual, homemade food is not admissible to a prisoner. "Diet plan has been prepared for food intake to Nawaz Sharif," the sources added.
