Following directives of the Supreme Court (SC), K-Electric on Thursday restored electricity supply to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation's (KMC) Head Office.
The power utility said it was in the process of restoring the rest of the connections in compliance with the orders of the top court. KE had disconnected power supply to KMC head office and several other connections over non-payment of power dues. Later, KMC had approached the court.
On Wednesday, The SC had directed KE to restore power supply of civic body's head office and parks while scheduling the next hearing on July 24, 2019. The KE officials hoped that this long pending issue of outstanding payments will be resolved. At the same time KE maintains its principle stance regarding payments of outstanding electricity dues by entities in default and will continue to work with all stakeholders in Karachi for an equitable resolution to this matter.
