The Karachi Port handled 135,274 tonnes of cargo comprising 102,832 tonnes of import cargo and 32,442 tonnes of export cargo including 9,458 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargos of 102,832 tonnes comprised of 54,087 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,866 tonnes of bulk cargo; 4,419 tonnes of DAP; 8,605 tonnes of rock phosphate and 33,855 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 32,442 tonnes comprised of 24,405 tonnes of containerised cargo; 400 tonnes of bulk cargo; 7,637 tonnes of stone and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 9,458 containers comprising of 3,974 containers import and 5,484 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,078 of 20's and 1,401 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 47 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 442 of 20's and 487 of 40's loaded containers while 1,150 of 20's and 1,459 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely Irenes Reliance, MSC Clea, Southern Dragon, Sunrise, MT Shalamar and Al Mahboobah carrying containers, oil tankers and chemical respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels viz. MSC Clea, CMA CGM Medea, Athenian, Chem Venus and Athos carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There are three ships namely APL England, CMA CGM Medea and Athenian carrying containers expected to sail on Thursday.
There are three vessels viz. MOL Gateway, Nord Spring and Olga Golovushkina carrying containers and chemical respectively due to arrive on Thursday while two more vessels viz. Wan Hai-611 and Atticus carrying containers and carbon black respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 145,539 tonnes comprising 104,040 tonnes of import cargo and 41,499 tonnes of export cargo including 3,806 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 104,040 tonnes includes 13,964 tonnes of diesel oil; 2,637 tonnes of palm kernel; 20,770 tonnes of palm oil; 28,900 tonnes of coal; 6,495 tonnes of chemical and 31,274 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 41,499 tonnes includes 459 tonnes of general cargo 41,040 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,806 containers comprising of 1,646 containers import and 2,160 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There were three ships namely MOL Gateway, Maersk Kinloss and Chemroad Aqua carrying containers and chemical respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two more ships namely Le Havre and Roll Dock Sea carrying containers respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of eleven vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, chemical, LPG, palm kernel, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as nine vessels viz. Ru Yi, Rio Chaopa, IVS Gemini, Lorentzos, Tomson Gas, Maersk Princess, Rhona, BTS Sabina and Argent Bloom carrying general cargo, steel coil, coal, cement, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four ships viz. APL Antwerp, Thor Madoc, SC Hong Kong and Gaslog Seattle carrying containers, coal, chemical and LNG expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Thursday. There were three ships namely APL Anatwerp, SC Hong Kong and Gaslog Seattle carrying containers, chemical and LNG due to arrive on Thursday.
