After failure of Pakistan cricket team to qualify for the semi-finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is all set to bring changes in the management as well as team.
The PCB is considering the proposal to reduce the number of centrally contracted players from 33 to 15-17 for the new season, the sources said, adding: "Only those players will be awarded new central contract who play all the three formats of the game."
The names of players awarded central contract will be announced by PCB after the appointment of a new selection committee, the sources added.
The PCB is looking for a new head coach and would give advertisement to select new one through a competitive process, the sources said, adding: "The PCB is also considering appointing separate captains for the Test matches and the limited-over format."
The sources claimed that some other cricketer will be named as skipper of Test Team while Sarfaraz is likely to retain as Captain of the one-day internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).
The sources also revealed that the selection committee led by Inzamam-ul-Haq is also likely to be replaced. For this slot, names of former Test cricketer and coach Mohsin Hassan Khan, Moeen Khan and Aamir Sohail are being considered.
All the key decisions will be taken by the PCB Cricket Committee comprising former captains Wasim Akram and Misbah-ul-Haq, and PCB MD Wasim Khan. The meeting of the Committee will be convened shortly, the sources said.
