Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday stated that the Pakistani mafia uses tricks such as blackmail and threats to pressurise the judiciary and other institutions just like the Sicilian mafia. The prime minister in a post on Twitter said, "In a similar vein to the 'Sicilian mafia', the Pakistani mafia uses tactics of bribe, threat, blackmail and begging to pressurise state institutions and judiciary in order to protect their billions of money laundering stashed abroad."
The prime minister statement comes at a time when opposition is using various tactics including agitation and propagating against state instigations to achieve its vested interest.
Recorder reporter from Lahore adds: PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz has blamed Imran Khan of being part of a mafia that pressurised judges into targeting and punishing its political opponents. Taking to Twitter, Maryam said, "You're a part of the mafia that pressurises judges into targeting and punishing your political opponents. It is you who used the institutions to settle scores with your opponents and defaced and maligned them in the process. Shame on you." Maryam's tweet came in response to a tweet by PM Imran sent out earlier in the day.
