The Business circles condemned the silent mode of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) on continues traders protest and termed it unjustified behavior of the country apex trade body. Secretary General (Federal) of the Businessmen Panel, Ahmad Jawad said on Sunday FPCCI proved that their existence and role towards business community is bleak and they only focused on their personal agendas rather advocating the issues of the business community in front of the government with effective and clear voice.
Former Vice President FPCCI Sheikh Mohammad Aslam said at one side traders, Chambers and associations are on protest against the strict finance bill and on other side; FPCCI and its office bearers have a silent lip on their mouths, sitting idle with zero plan of action how to overcome from this situation being an apex trade body of the country.
He told that my words are going to be proved corrected that United Business Group (UBG) made FPCCI into a dysfunctional and senseless institution one day and they yet keep continue to hide behind accusation on the opposition in the affairs of the Federation.
Group Leader of Mohmand Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Former President FPCCI, Haji Ghulam Ali said business community are on the roads in all major cities of the country but FPCCI officials are involved in an intense power struggle which is damaging the institution from the last two to three years. Similarly the government is also not ready to give them any importance.
Group leader Attock Chamber of Commerce, Mirza Abdul Rehman said business community were ready to pay fresh taxes and get documented but were against the way the government intended to implement taxation measures by putting additional burden on consumers. "We will form a committee of businessmen to meet an FBR team next week so that taxation issue could be resolved in a friendly environment," he added and we hoped FPCCI should deliver and merit will prevail in this body for the revival of the respect of the business community.
Senior Member of the Gujrat Chamber of Commerce and EC Member in FPCCI, Mirza Abdul Ghani said burden of additional taxes on general public and businessmen community will be an atrocity that will badly affect the industries and business in the country," He said we wanted to pay taxes but the procedure of collecting taxes should be modest and easy. "Instead of new taxes the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) should increase the number of tax-filers," he said. Similarly he said, I have never seen that FPCCI may call Executive Committee (EC) meeting to how we negotiate with the government on the finance bill of 2019-20. I think FPCCI must act as a leading player to overcome this uncertainty being a mother Chamber of all country.-PR
