With an aim to provide hassle-free environment for better studies, the Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) with the assistance of a technology company has completed installation of free-Wi-Fi at 63 public and private sector universities.
According to details, the initiative titled "blanket Wi-Fi" was started in 2016 with an estimated cost of Rs 2.4 billion to provide free-of-cost internet facility to students in classes and hostels. Officials said the programme is expected to be completed in 2024 after which the internet facility will not only be available in the universities but at the hostels as well.
