England won the World Cup for the first time in a first-ever World Cup Super Over thriller that went down to the last ball ending in a tie. England won because they hit more boundaries. The question is: Did England really win the final match of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019? The match cannot be described as flawless insofar as the standard of umpiring in the match was concerned. Highly respected former umpire Simon Taufel, a five-time winner of the International Cricket Council's Umpire of the Year award, for example, has pointed out that umpires had made a "clear mistake", as the England batsmen had not crossed for their second run in the final over, and should have been awarded five runs and not six. According to him, England's Adil Rashid should have faced the second-last ball instead of Stokes as a result! No doubt, the result of the final match of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 has generated a considerable controversy because of highly questionable ICC rules and lower umpiring levels.
