The Karachi Port handled 100,383 tonnes of cargo comprising 84,951 tonnes of import cargo and 15,432 tonnes of export cargo including 7,454 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargos of 84,951 tonnes comprised of 70,808 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,673 tonnes of bulk cargo and 12,470 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 15,432 tonnes comprised of 14,506 tonnes of containerised cargo; 926 tonnes of bulk cargo and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 7,454 containers comprising of 4,775 containers import and 2,679 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,487 of 20's and 1,636 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 08 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 412 of 20's and 148 of 40's loaded containers while 535 of 20's and 718 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were six ships namely Botany Bay, TSM Pollux, Atticus, Mandala, Asian Prominence and Marianne Danica carrying containers, chemical and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels viz. GH Zephyr, CMA CGM Rigoletto, CMA CGM Mumbai, MT Lahore and Bunga Akasia carrying containers, oil tanker and chemical respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 147,208 tonnes comprising 82,000 tonnes of import cargo and 65,208 tonnes of export cargo including 3,560 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 82,000 tonnes includes 5,800 tonnes of LNG; 52,307 tonnes of coal; 6,351 tonnes of soyabean; 1,506 tonnes of project cargo and 16,036 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 65,208 tonnes includes 13,604 tonnes of cement 51,604 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,560 containers comprising of 844 containers import and 2,716 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. There were four ships namely Ru Yi-I, SBI Gemini, Flag Gangos and Al-Ejnan carrying general cargo, coal and LNG respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while three more ships namely CPO Bremen, Los Angles Trader and Rhona carrying containers and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, cement, canola seeds, general cargo and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. As many as nine vessels viz. Han He, Secon-6, Leo Ocean, STH Montreal, Bores Veritas, Medi Perth, Maersk Princess, Torm Vencore and Kmarin Oslo carrying general cargo, steel coil, coal, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were seven ships viz. OOCL Washington, Hansa America, GH Zephyre, Secon-6, Bores Veritas, Maersk Princess and Kmarin Oslo carrying containers, steel coil, coal, diesel oil and palm oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday. There were three ships namely OOCL Washington, Hansa America and GH Zephyre carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
