A spokesman of Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education Lahore in his statement issued on Thursday said that smoke was seen rising from first floor of old building of BISE and as a result of which paper waste kept in the varanda catch fire during last night at about 1:00 am. Chairman and Secretary Lahore Board while receiving this information reached on the spot immediately. Fire was extinguished with the help of Rescue 1122 and fire brigade.
The spokesman clarified that no damage has been done and all departmental and educational record and other documents are fully safe and secure. Apparently it appears that fire was the result of short circuit in the wire. However, a special committee comprising of senior officers of the Education department has been constituted which will submit its report within three days.
