Sri Lankan Consul General G L Gnanatheva has shown interest in the Pakistani footwear industry and said the footwear manufacturing units established by Pakistani businessmen are exporting quality shoes to the countries in European Union.
During a meeting with Pakistan Footwear Manufacturers Association Hassan Javed, the Consul General stressed the need for strengthen cooperation to next level by providing ease of doing business through bilateral agreements and concession policies.
The PFMA Chairman and Counsel General agreed to develop bilateral relations between the businessmen communities of footwear sectors of both the countries to take maximum benefit of their expertise and increase the volume of business at both ends. They also agreed to include footwear sector in next phase of FTA to enhance trade ties.
In current difficult situation, it is a good omen that the trust of foreign investors has been restored as they are confident to do business with the Pakistani businessmen. He welcomed the Sri Lankan offer of forging bilateral business relationship with footwear industry of Pakistan which holds great potential of producing quality footwears not only for local market but can export to Europe and American markets.
This is the right time to make this sector a leading exporting industry of Pakistan by exploring and penetrating in foreign markets with finest products and competing with international brands, he added. He also invited the Sri Lanka businessmen to attend the next Pakistan Mega Leather Show to be held on 27th January 2020 in Lahore.
