The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) is set to announce its Achievement Awards on July 25 (Thursday) at Awan-e-Sadar without implementing the order of Director General Trade Organisations (DGTO) announced on July 5, which will be a sheer violation of the order.
Secretary General (Federal) and Spokesperson of Businessmen Panel (BMP), Ahmad Jawad said that FPCCI didn't call the meeting for the executive committee in order to discuss and make terms of reference in the light of the order by the Regulator, and without implementing the judgement and announcement of Achievement Awards is unjustified and FPCCI officials are also determined to make the office of Awan-e-Sadar controversial.
He said the order clearly stated that after hearing the parties at length, examining their statements and official record, pursuing the relevant laws and rules and on the basis of facts the "FPCCI is directing to bringing the transparency in the funds collection of the activities for the annual achievement awards ceremony.
It further stated that an appropriate mechanism is to be developed by the FPCCI with the approval of the executive committee for the upcoming awards ceremony. The mechanism must ensure that unnecessary burden is not placed on the members/ recipients for events not included in the annual plan of activities of licensed Trade Organisations (TOs).
The mechanism after the approval of the executive committee is to be circulated among all member TOs with the direction of the strict implementation of the same. Jawad also said the FPCCI has approximately collected Rs 20 million for conducting the upcoming award. Similarly the Federation did not conduct annual audit for the yearly awards ceremony which was organised twice a year.
