Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Punjab Chairman Qamar Zaman Kaira said on Monday that the joint opposition would hold protest against fascist government on 25th of July. He was addressing a press conference at the party secretariat after presiding over a party meeting relating to preparations for July 25. Senior party leadership of the province was also present on the occasion.
Kaira said the PPP would participate in the protest rally by all means. He said the government has added miseries to the people's life and the opposition would keep fighting against government for its anti-people policies.
Kaira criticized Prime Minister Imran Khan for his speech to Pakistani Diaspora in the US, saying his speech gave an impression that a jail superintendent, and not a prime minister, is on the US visit. Prime Minister Khan kept on cursing the opposition even in his speech in the US, he added. He said the nation was expecting that the prime minister would contest the case of sacrifices rendered by Pakistanis in war against terrorism. But PM focused on domestic politics in his speech, he said.
He said there was a time when the prime minister used to offer container to the opposition. But the way the PML-N's Faisalabad rally has been blacked out is a source of concern for democratic circles of the country, he stressed. He said the government was curbing political, economic and constitutional freedoms of the people of Pakistan.
Kaira urged the higher judiciary to take notice of the statements of the prime minister, who is claiming that the government has ensured sentences to the opposition leaders. He further urged the prime minister to give details of the opposition's request for NRO, saying that Zardari has withdrawn his bail application and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has urged the court to give his remand for 90 days to NAB. He said sensitivity of the regional situation demands an effective diplomacy which the government is lacking badly.
