The Karachi Port handled 135,695 tonnes of cargo comprising 83,876 tonnes of import cargo and 51,819 tonnes of export cargo including 6,951 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargos of 83,876 tonnes comprised of 55,517 tonnes of containerised cargo; 977 tonnes of bulk cargo; 4,033 tonnes of DAP; 3,077 tonnes of fertilizer and 20,272 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 51,819 tonnes comprised of 36,662 tonnes of containerised cargo; 819 tonnes of bulk cargo; 14,338 tonnes of clinkers and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,951 containers comprising of 3,721 containers import and 3,230 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,495 of 20's and 1,005 of 40's loaded while 206 of 20's and 05 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,459 of 20's and 126 of 40's loaded containers while 293 of 20's and 613 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely X-Press Annapurna, Charlotte Schulte, Royal-9, Lian Gui Hu, Liberty Promise and Trans Leader carrying containers, oil tanker, mogas and vehicles respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were eight vessels viz. Kota Cabar, Ubena, Fotini Lady, Al-Salam-II, Al Safa, Al Mahboobah, Lila and Han Hui carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical, clinkers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 118,783 tonnes comprising 112,133 tonnes of import cargo and 6,650 tonnes of export cargo including 3,350 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 112,133 tonnes includes 10,611 tonnes of palm oil; 25,244 tonnes of coal; 2,882 tonnes of soyabean; 13,096 tonnes of chemical; 3,300 tonnes of mogas and 57,000 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 6,650 tonnes includes 6,650 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,350 containers comprising of 3,000 containers import and 350 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There were three ships namely Indian Goodwill, Leo Ocean and NCC Noor carrying soyabean, coal and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while two more ships namely Maersk Chicago and Mid Falcon carrying containers and chemical respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eight vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean seeds, chemical, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as eight vessels viz. Star Planet, Dona Bibi, Agios Nikolas, STH Montreal, Tai Shine, Doro, Chem Patriot and Al Marrouna carrying soyabean, green canola, coal chemical and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four ships viz. MOL Grandeur, Dona Bibi, Chem Patriot and Al Marrouna carrying containers, green canola, chemical and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Grains & Furtilizer Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
There was one ship namely MOL Grandeur carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday, while two more ships namely Conti Contessa and Mearsk Brooklyn carrying containers respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.
