Local leaders of opposition parties on Thursday held a joint public gathering here to observe 'Black Day' on the first anniversary of the 2018 general election. The local leadership and workers of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Awami National Party (ANP) and Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party participated in the public gathering.
About 400 people, including most of seminary students, of JUI-F, 50 to 60 workers of PML-N and 30 to 40 workers of PPP and others opposition parties took part in the gathering.
While addressing the public gathering, the local leaders of joint opposition parties highlighted the issue of price-hike, arrest of political leadership and Khatme Nabuwwat (Finality of Prophethood).
PML-N former Member of the National Assembly (MNA) from Islamabad Tariq Fazal Chaudhry while addressing the public rally said that the people are in miserable condition due to increase in prices of electricity, gas, petroleum products, flour and other commodities by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government. He said that the PTI government has increased the prices of medicines by 400 percent. He said that the inflation also increased in the country due to depreciation of rupee against the US dollar.
He said that the PTI government is raising slogans of so-called accountability to overshadow its in-competency. About the issue of Khatm-e-Nabuwat, he said that every Muslim would defend Tahafuzz-e-Namoos-e-Risalat (PBUH).
PPP Islamabad President Shahzada Mukhtar Hussain said that the government is putting leadership of opposition parties behind the bars in name of so-called accountability. He said that fake cases are being lodged against the leaders of opposition parties.
He said that the PTI government has increased inflation and now it is difficult for the poor to eat food for two times. Maulana Abdul Majeed Hazarvi of JUI-F said, "Prime Minister Imran Khan termed Chaudhry Pervez Elahi as robber in the past and now he made him the speaker Punjab Assembly."
He said that the PTI government wants to change the law to eliminate the portion related to Ahmadis in the Constitution in which they have been termed as non-Muslims. He said that they would sacrifice their lives in the name of Tahafuzz-e- Namoos-e-Risalat (PBUH). The local leaders of ANP, Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party and others also addressed the gathering.
