In order to counter the "propaganda" of political victimization by enraged opposition members against the arrest of their leadership in corruption cases, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday directed the concerned minister to expose their "lies". The prime minister while presiding over a meeting of PTI's core committee, directed his cabinet ministers not to spare the opposition leaders who are spreading a "false propaganda" in a bid to skip the accountability process under the pretext of political victimization.
The sources privy to the meeting said that no one involved in plundering national wealth will be spared, as they [opposition] are making a hue and cry just to mislead people and gain their sympathies despite bringing the country at verge of economic destruction. "We didn't register these cases, as all the cases were framed by these two parties [PPP and PML-N] against each others leaders, and now when an independent has pursuing them, they term it [political] victimization, which is no way acceptable," the PM was quoted as saying.
The prime minister told the ministers to give befitting replies to the 'opposition propaganda' as their sole intention is to get an 'NRO' through these tactics. According to sources, the issue of no-confidence motion against Senate chairman Sadiq Sanjrani also came under discussion. The prime minister was apprised about the latest development with regard to no-confidence issue against the Senate chief.
About the recent wave of protests, the PM was quoted as saying that no one should be allowed to take the law into his own hands, adding all those staging 'illegal, and unjustified' protests for political gains must not be allowed to violate the law.
PM Khan also directed all the ministers to portray a positive image of the government as the opposition is all out to defame it in order to divert masses' attention from real issues - accountability of the corrupts and other issues confronting the country. The PM noted that those involved in corruption cases were making appearances on TV to paint themselves as 'political martyrs' and misleading people.
He said that these people who destroyed the economy of the country to fill their coffers must not be allowed to distort facts. The country had come out of the economic crisis, the PM said, adding efforts are being made to provide relief to the masses as they had to bear the brunt of the inflation due to fragile economy and flawed policies of past governments.
