This is apropos a Business Recorder op-ed "Reset to client status?" carried by the newspaper yesterday. The writer, Rashed Rahman, has plausibly argued that "actually, this mutual lack of understanding stems from the divergent goals each country has pursued, without anyone on either side bring willing to state this evident truth clearly and without ambivalence."
Empirical studies have often argued that resetting has to be viewed as progressive. It is progressive in the sense that prime minister Imran Khan's US visit, which a few months ago was not even a possibility, has ended up giving Pakistan an opportunity to showcase, for example, the plight of Kashmiris in a highly effective manner. The US-Pakistan 'reset' seems to have overcome its biggest challenge after US President Donald Trump triggered a storm in India with Kashmir mediation offer.
