Inaugurating the mobile health unit donated by the Imperial College London, here at the Services Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS), the Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Wednesday said the journey of change has been started from hospitals and patients will be provided quality healthcare facilities. "Hospitals will be transformed as healing centres and shortages found anywhere will be removed," he said while speaking on the occasion.
The CM also announced to upgrade the hospital emergency adding that it would be made state-of-the-art facility and the Punjab government will provide necessary resources in this regard. He also directed to overcome the shortage of hospital's human resource. "I had, earlier, visited the hospital emergency twice in the night and some complaints were raised with regard to medical facilities," he said, adding: "My late father was also admitted here and I know that what difficulties are faced by the patients in the emergency."
He took notice of overcharging in the name of car parking from the attendants and made it clear that overcharging will not be tolerated.
A briefing of SIMS academic council was also held to highlight the steps taken for improving medical facilities in Services Hospital.
The CM also met with young doctors who thanked the Chief Minister for an increase in their pay and allowances. He issued directions to the health minister for early solution of hostel problem of doctors. Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid, Chairman P&D, Secretary Specialized Healthcare and others were also present on the occasion.
Earlier, the CM Usman Buzdar paid a surprise visit to different departments today and checked the attendance of the officers. He inquired the people about their problems and issued directions to solve their problems.
The CM also directed to immediately solve the problem of an elderly woman. Talking on the occasion, he said that such visits help in knowing facts and it is sanguine that officers are available in their offices. He said that the open-door policy will be strictly followed to solve the problems of the common man adding that the PTI government has totally changed the traditional culture of government departments as public sector institutions are open to the people.
Moreover, the CM Usman Buzdar went to the residence of Syed Ali Murtaza and condole the death of his father. He offered "fateha" for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
