Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda on Wednesday criticised the opposition parties, alleging that their corrupt practices depleted the national exchequer.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Faisal Vawda said that opposition parties robbed the country blindly just to gain personal monetary benefits.
Disclosing another case of Sharif family's corruption, Vawda said Ali Imran, son-in-law of Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif, managed to lease out a building, constructed with looted money, to National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) on monthly rent of Rs 3,565, 800.
Ali Imran was not able to rent out the building, located at M M Alam Road, Lahore, for quite some time, but he managed to lease it out to the NBP, using political influence, the minister alleged.
Vawda revealed that the government is handing over important documents related to past corruption to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for further inquiries into the matter.
Vawda said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had been making political appointments in different departments to serve their purpose, get loans and make personal assets in the country and abroad. The national exchequer was pillaged, looted and plundered in the past and tall buildings were erected by the ill-gotten money as a result, alleged Vawda.
About state of affairs in Karachi after rain, Vawda said: "The Sindh government's incompetence is visible. The Pakistan Peoples Party has failed miserably in managing the affairs of the metropolis." He added that the federal government is ready to help the provincial government in every possible way.
