Business community assured: special police mobile to be roaming in city before Eidul Azha
Additional Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ghulam Nabi Memon has assured business community that special police mobile will be roaming in the Karachi before Eidul Azha to ensure curbing of looting and snatching incidences in the city.
Speaking at a meeting of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), he assured that maintenance of law & order situation will be ensured at any cost and the criminals involved in extortion, Bhatta, kidnapping, snatching, car lifting etc. would be brought to book.
He said that he has issued necessary instructions to the concerned police officials to take strict action against bike gangs and one wheelers who have disturbed the entire residents of Clifton area.
In response to the queries and issues made in the meeting, he informed that police force is determined to maintain and improve law & order situation in Karachi which will result in flourishing the business activities.
He said that some police stations would be merged as a model stations where posting of the police personal will be made purely on merit.
He showed his resolve to change the present Thana Culture as it is the mother of all ills and did not provide sense of security to the citizens. He elaborated that for this purpose initially 8 police stations would be made Model Police Stations in Karachi. He also shared his views that economic prosperity is only possible when the confidence of the business community is ensured and by ensuring good law and order situation. He further informed the house that a proper accounting system will be introduced to meet immediate financial and basic requirement of the police stations. Posting of SHOs will based on only merit and Sifarish (Recommendation) system will be done away with.
The Additional Inspector General of Police, Karachi also assured reactivation of FPCCI Police Liaison Cell so that the complaints of Business Community could be quickly disposed.
Acting President of FPCCI, Muslim Mohamedi apprised the Additional Inspector General Police of the difficulties of the business community related to the Law & Order situation such as street crimes in the commercial areas and industrial zones.
He said that the Police has controlled the criminal elements at all levels yet there are still some street crimes shaking the confidence and trust of the Karachiites.
He lauded the efforts being made by police force who also sacrificed their lives in struggle to safeguard of the citizens.
He also opinioned that police force need complete welfare facilities related to their healthcare, housing, education etc..
