Felicitating the chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani on the failure of no-trust motion against him, Punjab chief minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said that it is a failure of negative agenda of the opposition. "Senators have reposed their confidence on Sadiq Sanjrani and rejected the alliance of the opposition," he said, adding: "The elements who wanted to achieve their personal agenda have remained unsuccessful."
The CM maintained that Sadiq Sanjrani has run the business of the House in an effective manner and always displayed exemplary political tolerance and acumen. "The PTI government will always firmly stand with Sadiq Sanjrani and the opposition should avoid the politics of anarchy and chaos after this defeat," he said. Sardar Usman said the opposition parties have their personal agenda and the unnatural alliance of the opposition would die soon. "We are serving the people sincerely and wholeheartedly and Pakistan is moving towards its destination under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan," he said.
Moreover, reviewing measures taken for the protection of crops from locusts' attack in Bahawalpur division, Punjab chief minister Sardar Usman Buzdar directed all the concerned to take all-possible preventive measures for countering the attack.
While addressing the meeting, the CM said that departments concerned should remain fully alert and vigilant in Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan districts' for saving the crops besides giving special focus to aerial spray for controlling the locusts attack.
He directed that scope of aerial spray should be extended by hiring aero plane on rent. He further directed that the spray through vehicles should be further accelerated. He said that more pesticides should be imported as per requirement while speedy measures should be taken after getting support from the federal government in this regard. He said that control room established at central and district levels should keep a vigilant eye round-the-clock over the situation.
DG PDMA gave the briefing about the measures taken for protecting the crops from locusts' attack.
Chief Secretary, SMBR, Principal Secretary to CM, Secretary Agriculture, Secretary to CM (Coordination), DG PDMA and others were present on the occasion. Commissioners of Bahawalpur, DG Khan and Multan divisions participated through video link.
On the directions of Chief Minister, Qadra canal has been opened; as a result of which, water could be available in the canals of Rajanpur for irrigating thousands of acres of agriculture lands.
The CM said that provision of water to tail-farmers should be ensured. Abundant water would be available to the farmers after opening of Qadra canal, he said.
He added that instructions have also been issued to the concerned authorities to control the menace of water-theft.
