The Karachi Port handled 113,354 tonnes of cargo comprising 69,922 tonnes of import cargo and 43,432 tonnes of export cargo including 4,456 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargos of 69,922 tonnes comprised of 47,775 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,901 tonnes of DAP; 3,114 tonnes of urea and 16,132 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 43,432 tonnes comprised of 12,917 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,010 tonnes of bulk cargo; 24,105 tonnes of clinkers and 5,400 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,456 containers comprising of 2,976 containers import and 1,480 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,241 of 20's and 858 of 40's loaded while 15 of 20's and 02 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 304 of 20's and 151 of 40's loaded containers while 192 of 20's and 341 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were four ships namely APL Chongqing, Cosco Japan, Diyala and Gulf Horizon carrying containers and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were four vessels viz. MOL Generosity, APL Korea, Sam Lion and Jork carrying containers, clinkers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
A cargo volume of 91,353 tonnes comprising 70,672 tonnes of import cargo and 20,681 tonnes of export cargo including 2,363 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 70,672 tonnes includes 21,820 tonnes of coal; 5,768 tonnes of palm oil; 2,665 tonnes of palm kernel; 10,000 tonnes of canola seeds and 30,419 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 20,681 tonnes includes 6,203 tonnes of condensate; 14,478 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,363 containers comprising of 1,601 containers import and 762 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. There was one ship namely Jipro Neftis carrying palm oil sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while two more ships namely Teno and Kristinita carrying containers and coal respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of six vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, green canola, crude oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. As many as sixteen vessels viz. Hugo Schulte, Cosco Japan, Frisia Amsterdam, Star Planet, Wadi Al-Bostan, STH Montreal, ST Sofia, Flag Filia, Niton Cobalt, Maina, BBG Integrity, Al Marrouna, Celsius Messina, Admore Cheyenne, Global Glory and Saint Nikolai carrying containers, soyabean, coke, coal, canola seeds, LNG and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five ships viz. Hugo Schulte, Cosco Japan, Flag Filia, Al Marrouna and Celsius Messina carrying containers, coal, LNG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Friday. There are two ships namely MS Tiger and Frisia Amesterdam carrying containers due to arrive on Saturday.
