The upward trend in prices of essential food commodities, including vegetable, pulses, fruits, sugar, flour, chicken meat and others, was witnessed in retail market, according to a survey conducted by Business Recorder here on Sunday.
A considerable increase in price of tomatoes was witnessed in local market, as available at Rs 90 and Rs 100 per kg against the price of Rs 40 per kg in the previous week, the survey noticed. Similarly, it added onion has become costlier in local market which being sold at Rs 70-80 per kg against the price of Rs 50 per kg in the last week.
Likewise, the price of garlic has gone up at Rs 200-240 per kg which was selling at Rs 140-160 per kg a few days back. Ginger is being sold at Rs 300 per kg against the price of Rs 200 per kg in retail market. Lemon is being sold at Rs 150 per kg which was selling at Rs 120 per kg in the previous week.
Cucumber is being sold at Rs 50 per kg which was selling at Rs 40 per kg in the previous week. Peas was available at Rs 180-200 per kg, capsicum at Rs 100 per kg, arvi at Rs 80 per kg, ladyfinger at Rs 70 per kg, apple, around gourds were available within range of Rs 60 and Rs 80 per kg. Bringle was available at Rs 60 per kg against the price of Rs 40 per kg.
Red-coloured potatoes are being sold at Rs 80 per kg while other at Rs 40-50 per kg. Green chili is being sold at Rs 150 per kg. While, bitter gourd (Kerala) was available at Rs 80 per kg and cauliflower at Rs 60 per kg, cabbage at Rs 40 per kg.
According to the survey, price of live chiken/meat was remained unchanged in retail market as available at Rs 157 per kg. A dozen of farm eggs are being sold at Rs 80 and Rs 100. Cow meat was being sold at Rs 400 and Rs 430 per kg, while mutton beef priced at Rs 800-900 per kg.
Fresh milk is being sold at Rs 130 per litre against the official fixed price of Rs 90 per litre Yogurt was available at Rs 120 per kg against the official fixed rate of Rs 80 per kg in local market. Fruits are staple food, which had become costlier and complete reach out from purchasing power of common man. As per survey, apples are being sold at Rs 140-150 per kg, peach at Rs 120 per kg, mangoes within range of Rs 80 and Rs 100, apricot at Rs 150-160 per kg, banana at Rs 70-80 per dozen, black-coloured plums at Rs 100-120 per kg, grapes are being sold at Rs 200 per kg, mukesh melon was being sold at Rs 150-200 per piece with different size and guava was available at Rs 80-100 per kg.
Sugar is being sold at Rs 80 per kg against the price of Rs 75 per kg in the previous week. Gram flour (baisen) was available at Rs 140 per kg against the price of Rs 120 per kg in the retail market.
According to the survey, the prices of pulses/food grains were remained high-side in the retail market. Good quality rice (sela) is being sold at Rs 140 -150 per kg, while toota rice was available at Rs 75-80 per kg.
Dal mash is being sold at Rs 170 and Rs 190 per kg, dal channa was available at Rs 130-140 per kg, white lobiya at Rs 130 and Rs 140 per kg, red-bean at Rs 130-140 per kg.
The price big-size white channa was Rs 140 and Rs 160 per kg, while dal chilka (green) was being sold at Rs 140 and Dal Chilka (Black) being sold at Rs 130 per kg. Moonge was available at Rs 140 per kg. Dhoti dal is being sold at Rs 160.
According the survey, the price of cooking oil/ghee were remained high-side in the retail market as available within range of Rs 170 and Rs 180 per litre/kg, and Rs 190 and Rs 200 per litre/kg.
