The Karachi Port handled 189,659 tonnes of cargo comprising 134,988 tonnes of import cargo and 54,671 tonnes of export cargo including 3,055 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargos of 134,988 tonnes comprised of 35,506 tonnes of containerised cargo; 802 tonnes of DAP; 8,100 tonnes of fertilizer and 90,580 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 54,671 tonnes comprised of 23,454 tonnes of containerised cargo; 805 tonnes of bulk cargo; 30,412 tonnes of clinkers and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 3,055 containers comprising of 871 containers import and 2,184 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 397 of 20's and 107 of 40's loaded while 208 of 20's and 26 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 366 of 20's and 345 of 40's loaded containers while 184 of 20's and 472 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Northern Discovery, Cosco Hong Kong, MT Lahore, Hyderabad and Bunun Dynasty carrying containers, oil tanker, DAP and clinkers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were four vessels viz. MP The Belichick, MT Quetta, Hai Li-28 and Shun Xing-18 carrying containers, oil tanker and fishing trawler respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 132,574 tonnes comprising 80,058 tonnes of import cargo and 52,516 tonnes of export cargo including 3,996 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 80,058 tonnes includes 15,830 tonnes of LNG; 22,398 tonnes of coal; 5,755 tonnes of palm oil; 828 tonnes of LPG; 11,839 tonnes of chemical and 23,408 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 52,516 tonnes includes 52,516 tonnes of containerised cargo.
There were four ships namely MS Tiger, Cosco Japan, Frisia Amsterdam and Celcius Messina carrying containers and palm oil sailed out to sea on Monday morning.
A total number of ten vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean, steel coil, chemical, LNG, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as ten vessels viz. Wadi Al-Bostan, STH Montreal, ST Sofia, Maina, BBG Integrity, Sima Isma, Admore Cheyenne, Horizon, Global Glory and Saint Nikolai carrying coke, coal, canola seeds, LNG and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four ships viz. MSC Joanna, MSC Domitille, Sima Isma and Admore Cheyenne carrying containers, LNG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday.
There were two ships namely MSC Joanna and MSC Domitille carrying containers due to arrive on Monday, while two more ships namely Maersk Atlant and APL Savannah carrying containers are due to arrive on Tuesday.
