Deputy Speaker Rehana Leghari Tuesday announced adjournment of Sindh Assembly session in the presence of as less than as one legislator and he too hails from her Pakistan Peoples Party. The provincial legislature deals with the private members' proposed legislation during Tuesday's sessions. But, deputy speaker had not waited for the lawmakers to turn up to the house and put off the sitting until Friday. Ghanwar Ali Khan was the only lawmaker in the house and he hails from Sindh's ruling party (PPP).
Even the regular traditional inaugural prayers session was not held.
The day's list of legislation was big as usual. It also included a privilege motion by Muhammad Ali Aziz titled 'breach committed by Deputy Commissioner East Ahmed Ali Siddique.'
PTI's Khurrum Sher Zaman Khan also missed his adjournment motion on street crimes in Karachi. Similarly, Sidra Imran, Nusrat Sehar Abbasi, Adeel Ahmed, Muhammad Shabbir and Mangal Sharma's five private resolutions also could not qualify for discussion.
The adjournment in haste also delayed probability of adoption of a private bill "The Sindh Advisers (Appointment, Powers, Functions, Salaries, Allowances and Privileges (*Amendment) Bill 2019," by Arif Mustafa Jatoi. Five private motions, 27 propositions for amendments to rules of procedures of Sindh Assembly also saw undesired deferral. The deputy speaker's move also deprived the house of questions and answers session that was to be held vis-à-vis Sindh Excise and Taxation Department's performance with its minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla answering the members' queries. The house session will be resumed on Friday at 2:30 pm.
