Businessmen Panel (BMP) Chairman Mian Anjum Nisar has said, "India has once again lost the chance to bring stability, peace and harmony in the region."
He supported the National Security Council's (NSC) bold step to suspend trade and downgrade diplomatic relations with India. This move can be seen as direct fallout of Narendra Modi government's decision to remove all special provisions relating to Kashmir and bifurcate the state into two union territories, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.
Mian Anjum Nisar condemned the Indian government's decision to revoke Article 370, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir. "Masses need not to worry as the Pakistan Army has all the abilities and capabilities to frustrate unholy designs of the enemies," he said.
He said that Indian annexation of Kashmir has put the world's peace at stake which will damage all regional economies and push millions into poverty.
"Indian economy will be damaged more than other countries as they have much to lose," he said and added we may not attend those SAARC Chamber of Commerce meetings under protest where there will be Indian presence.
However, in the first quarter of FY19-20, India's exports to Pakistan were $452.5 million and imports were $7.13 million. In FY18-19, India total exports to Pakistan were $2.06 billion, while imports were $495 million. India's major items of export are organic chemicals, cotton, plastics and dyes, while imports are fruits, edible nuts and mineral fuels. He also urged the Chinese Government to call off trade with India as well under protest of Ladakh which is now a part of Union of India. Anjum Nisar further said that in the given circumstances, there are very little chances of a breakthrough after recent PM Modi move in Lok Sabah.
