The Karachi Port handled 89,662 tonnes of cargo comprising 63,059 tonnes of import cargo and 26,603 tonnes of export cargo including 4,661 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargos of 63,059 tonnes comprised of 30,840 tonnes of containerised cargo; 545 tonnes of bulk cargo; 4,428 tonnes of fertilizer and 27,246 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 26,603 tonnes comprised of 24,390 tonnes of containerised cargo; 213 tonnes of bulk cargo and 2,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,661 containers comprising of 2,111 containers import and 2,550 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 653 of 20's and 729 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 565 of 20's and 678 of 40's loaded containers while 177 of 20's and 226 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships namely Irenes Reliance, Ocean Jupiter and Senanur Cebi carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were three vessels viz. APL Le Havre, Mari Gold and Evridiki carrying containers, chemical and mogas respectively currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 100,429 tonnes includes 29,960 tonnes of steel coil; 24,959 tonnes of coal; 12,200 tonnes of palm oil; 12,000 tonnes of soyabean; 5,111 tonnes of palm kernel; 600 tonnes of LPG and 15,599 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 47,899 tonnes includes 47,899 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,342 containers comprising of 821 containers import and 2,521 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. There were two ships namely MOL Globe and Maersk Atlanta carrying containers sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two more ships namely APL Savannah and Crane Island carrying containers and steel coil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean, steel coil, LNG, diesel oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. As many as eight vessels viz. Wadi Al-Bostan, Maina, BBG Integrity, Empery, Golar Ice, Spot Tail, Horizon and Saint Nikolai carrying coke, coal, canola seeds, chemical, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three ships viz. Maersk Bentonville, Chemroad Wing and Golar Ice carrying containers, chemical and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Thursday. There were three ships namely Kyoto Express, Maersk Bentonville and Chemroad Wing carrying containers and chemical respectively due to arrive on Thursday.
