The Accountability Court hearing the multibillion rupees fake bank accounts case Friday sent former president Asif Ali Zardari's sister Faryal Talpur to jail on judicial remand till August 19.
Accountability Court Duty Judge Tahir Mehmood while hearing the mega money laundering case was informed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Investigation Officer Muhammad Ali Abro that he has completed investigation from accused Talpur; therefore, the Bureau does not need further extension in her physical remand. The NAB prosecutor prayed to the court to send her to jail on judicial remand. He also produced medical report of Talpur before the court. According to doctors, as per her (Talpur) present medical condition, they cannot allow her to travel. Keeping in view the doctor's advice, it is impossible for them to produce her now before the court, the prosecutor said.
The judge said how can he send her to jail on judicial remand unless she is produced before the court. "Let me know about any law to send her to jail," the judge asked the prosecutor.
Defence counsel Farooq H Naek objected to the NAB's request and prayed the court to grant her physical remand till August 16. The NAB chairman declared the suspect's house as sub-jail, he said, adding that the NAB Thursday had obtained physical remand of Talpur for further investigation but the anti-graft body investigation officer did not conduct any investigation from her.
He said that his client has been admitted at the hospital; therefore, the court should grant relief to her.
