A parliamentary panel on Friday called for unambiguous India policy to counter Modi's fascism and asked the government to prepare an action plan to internationalize the Kashmir issue. The Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, which met with Senator Mushahid Hussauin Sayed in the chair, adopted a unanimous resolution strongly condemning the illegal actions by the Indian government regarding occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Regarding recent announcements by the Indian government on the annexation of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOK), the committee categorically rejected the illegal, arbitrary and unconstitutional attempt at altering the demography of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir and demanded India to immediately reverse the wrong steps which jeopardize the peace and stability of South Asia.
It emphatically denounced India's blatant violation of international law and direct contravention of the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.
The committee reaffirmed Pakistan unwavering commitment to all United Nations resolutions regarding the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. It also referred to the landmark initiative of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee taken on February 5, 2019, to convene, for the first time, an international parliamentary conference for solidarity with the Kashmiri people, at the British Parliament in London.
In light of that Senate initiative, the panel urged the government to support parliamentary diplomacy for the promotion of the Kashmir cause in a sustained bipartisan manner.
It also decided to prepare an action plan to internationalize the Kashmir dispute, expose the Modi Regime's fascist and racist policies which are reminiscent of Nazi Germany to take concrete steps in the domain of parliamentary diplomacy, highlight human rights violations in the IOK and to suggest specific measures for an "India Policy" that protects Pakistan's National interests, promotes the Kashmir cause and proactively exposes the Indian designs, which are devise and dangerous for the entire region.
The committee condemned the deliberate escalation of tensions by India along the LOC and the Working Boundary (WB) by resorting to unprovoked firing in a violation of the 2003 Cease fire Understanding in an attempt to divert global attention from Indian atrocities in the IOK.
It also resolutely condemned the recent use of cluster ammunition against civilian population by Indian occupation forces. The committee also demanded of the Indian government to immediately release of the Hurriyat and Kashmiri leadership.
It also termed the suspension of mobile and internet services as well as the imposition of curfew in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir as against all principles of democracy, civility and free speech.
The committee reaffirmed Pakistan' commitment to continue to extend full political diplomatic and moral support to the Kashmiri people in their just struggle until they achieve the legitimate right of self -determination as recognized by the United Nations Security Council Resolutions.
The panel saluted the velour, heroism and courage of the Kashmiri people who are valiantly resisting the Indian occupation army's brutal repression. It also expressed gratitude to the father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who saw through the bigoted 'Modi's Mindset' way back in 1947 and whose visionary leadership gave us a free country, Pakistan.
The committee discussed India's adventurism in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, abrogation of Article 370, its implications and Pakistan's response. Special Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Moazzam appraised the committee about the steps being undertaken, adding that Indian High Commissioner has been asked to leave and trade ties with Indian have been suspended.
He said that efforts are underway to consult all friendly countries globally, adding that Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi is already in China for consultations with the Chinese leadership on the latest developments following Indian government's illegal actions.
Responding to various quires of the members, he said that Pakistan had neither recognized the inclusion of Article 370 in the Indian constitution by giving it a special status nor it is ready to accept the latest action of annexing the IOK with India. He said that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized disputed territory and there are a number of UN Security Council resolutions on the dispute.
In his observations, the chairman of committee stated that Pakistan needs to have a long term and sustainable India policy since it is a black day and the most important development for the region since 1971.
The committee was of the consensus that the government and the foreign office alone cannot deal with the severity of the situation and parliamentary diplomacy has to play a key role in taking Pakistan's narrative to global powers.
Mushahid Hussain said that the committee has always projected the Kashmir cause whether it be Al-Quds conference in Turkey, or special hearing at the UK Parliament or within Pakistan prior to the recent escalations and unilateral actions by India.
The committee noted that after 1971 this current unilateral decision is the worst episode in the Kashmir issue since it has tried to change geography of the Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir which will have serious consequences for South Asian region.
Committee member Sherry Rehman criticized the late response on the part of the government to the Modi government's move, adding that when the controversial decision was being taken Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the UN Dr Maleeha Lodhi was on the holidays.
She said that India has tried to re-set history and revise geography in South Asia. "Kashmiris and Pakistanis will never accept this. There are no military solutions to Kashmir, but right now that is what so many states are "watching carefully" while "urging restraint," she added.
The meeting also witnessed exchange of arguments between PML-N Javed Abbasi and PTI's Wasim Shehzad when the former referred to the arrests of opposition leaders at this critical stage when the country needs unity.
Senator Rehman Malik presented a 'charge sheet' against Modi for his crimes against humanity in the IOK and urged the government to take up the matter to the International Criminal Court for the trial of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his Army Chief Gen Bipin Rawat and a0ll Indian authorities, responsible for war crimes in the IOK.
He said that Modi violated UNSC resolutions and all international laws by altering the disputed status of the IoK. He said that Mod's government is violating the global treaties by not allowing the human rights bodies to access Kashmir. For years, he appeared in 'Top Ten Criminals' list and he had figured-out prominently in the search alongside images of terrorists, murderers and criminal on 'Google'. His entry remained banned in USA for your role in killing of hundreds of Muslims in Gujrat, India, he added. The Committee also called for a special session of Senate to discuss the latest developments in the IOK.
