Karachi Customs Agents Association (KCAA) has requested the minister for ports and shipping to direct shipping companies to declare Saturday as working day. According to Arshad Khursheed General Secretary, KCAA, shipping companies were closed since last Saturday due to Eid holidays and during this period, many vessels were arrived at Karachi ports and large numbers of containers were accumulated at ports.
Furthermore, he said that most of the shipping lines would observe coming Saturday as complete holiday and some of them would consider Friday as half-day, which may create difficulty for traders and customs agents to get delivery order on Friday.
Keeping the said in view, he requested the Minister Port and Shipping to instruct all shipping companies to open their offices on Saturday as normal working day in order to facilitate the trade at maximum and avoid piling up containers' backlog and create port congestion issue after Eid holidays.
