Most of the commercial centres and wholesale markets in the provincial capital remained closed on Thursday to mark the "Black Day" against the Indian atrocities in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK).
The markets which remained closed included Shah Alam, Urdu Bazaar, Akbari Mandi, Moti Bazaar, Rang Mahal, Badami Bagh, Abid Market, Bilal Ganj, Anarkali, Liberty, Township, Bund Road, Brandreth Road, Jail Road, Anarkali, Neela Gunbad, Mall Road, Ichra, Mozang, Azam Cloth, Gulberg Main market, Loha market, Mcload Road, Montgomery Road, Circle Road and currency markets. However, some commercial centres were partially remained opened.
Meanwhile, senior leaders of different trade bodies under the leadership of All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajran (APAT) Central President Ashraf Bhatti also joined the Black Day rally arranged by the Punjab government outside the Punjab Assembly.
"To condemn the Indian atrocities against innocent Kashmiris in the IOK, we have started displaying banners inscribed with "say no to Indian products" in different markets," Bhatti said while talking to the media reporters.
He said the people of Pakistan by celebrating their Independence Day as "Kashmir Solidarity Day" have proved their blood relation with the Kashmiris.
"We are ready to go to any extent to support the people of IOK," pledged the president and reiterated that the innocent Kashmiris would not be left alone in their freedom fight. He further said that shortly a campaign would be launched to boycott Indian products/items completely.
He said if they have to abandon bilateral trade with Indian, they would do so to stop the Indian Army from killing innocent people. The wrong decision of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has infused a new spirit among the Kashmiris to fight for their rights. The Indian government will now face disappointment at every level due to its bad policies. The independence day of Kashmir is not so far now, added Ashraf.
