Prices of essential kitchen items, especially perishable items, witnessed a reduction during this week as compared to previous week, a survey conducted by Business Recorder revealed here on Saturday.
The survey observed that onion price went down from Rs 275 per 5kg to Rs 200 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 50 per kg against Rs 70 per kg in retail market, tomatoes price went down from Rs 500 to Rs 200 per 5kg which were being sold at Rs 50 per kg against Rs 120 per kg and potatoes' price went up from Rs 150 per 5kg to Rs 170 per 5kg which were being sold at Rs 45 per kg against Rs 40 per kg.
Garlic price remained stable at Rs 900 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 275 per kg and ginger price went up from Rs 1,500 per 5kg to Rs 1,600 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 375 per kg against Rs 350 per kg. Lemon price remained stable at Rs 500 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 130 per kg. Maroo Kaddu price reduced from Rs 150 per 5kg to Rs 70 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 20 per kg against Rs 40 per kg, radish price went down from Rs 250 per 5kg to Rs 200 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 55 per kg against Rs 60 per kg, and Chinese carrot price went down from Rs 500 per 5kg to Rs 350 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 90 per kg against Rs 110 per kg.
Bean price remained stable at Rs 350 per 5 kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 85 per kg, Tinda price went down from Rs 250 per 5 kg to Rs 220 per 5 kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 50-55 per kg against Rs 60-65 per kg, peas price went up from Rs 575 to Rs 675 per 5 kg which were being sold at Rs 170 per kg against Rs 145 per kg; and brinjal price went down from Rs 200 per 5kg to Rs 100 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 30 per kg against Rs 50-55 per kg. Turnip price went down from Rs 220 per 5kg to Rs 170 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 50 per kg against Rs 60 per kg, yam price went up from Rs 250 per 5 kg to Rs 450 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 120 per kg against Rs 60 per kg.
Capsicum price went down from Rs 300 per 5kg to Rs 230 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 60 per kg against Rs 75 per kg; cucumber price remained stable at Rs 120 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 40 per kg; cauliflower price went up from Rs 225 per 5kg to Rs 275 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 75 per kg against Rs 60 per kg; and cabbage price remained stable at Rs 130 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 40 per kg. Prices of various qualities of pumpkin went down from Rs 350-300 per 5kg to Rs 275-250 per 5kg which were being sold in the range of Rs 60-70 per kg against Rs 70-80 per kg; okra price went down from Rs 160 per 5kg to Rs 140 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 40 per kg against Rs 45 per kg; kareela price went down from Rs 200 to Rs 150 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs 40 per kg against Rs 50 per kg.
Egg price went down from Rs 95 per dozen to Rs 90 per dozen which in retail market was being sold at Rs 100 per dozen against Rs 108 per dozen, chicken price went up from Rs 7,000 per 40kg to Rs 7,700 per 40kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 235 per kg against Rs 220 per kg while chicken meat was being sold at Rs 400 per kg against Rs 350 per kg.
Fruit prices during the week under review witnessed a reduction as Gaja apple was available at Rs 90 per kg against Rs 100 per kg, fresh apples from Murree, Swat, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan were available in the range of Rs 75-150 per kg, good quality local banana was being sold at Rs 70 per dozen against Rs 75 per dozen while normal quality banana was being sold in the range of Rs 45-60 per dozen against Rs 50-60 per dozen. Various brands of mangoes were being sold in the range of Rs 75 per kg to Rs 150 per kg and various qualities of peaches were available in the range of Rs 75-150 per kg. Pear was being sold at Rs 75 per kg against Rs 90 per kg and grapes were being sold in the range of Rs 100-200 per kg.
