Sindh Excise and Taxation department on Monday claimed to have collected Rs 5.696 billion in July. According to details, the department has made a tax recovery of Rs 5696.447 million under various heads of taxes during July, 2019. This was revealed by Director General Shabbir Ahmed Shaikh during the meeting.
He said that the department has collected Rs 699.441 million under Motor Vehicle Tax, Rs 3999.688 million as Infrastructure Cess and Rs 47.041 million under professional tax.
Furthermore, he said that Rs 1.209 million had been collected as cotton fee, Rs 479.254 million as property tax and Rs 11.005 million as entertainment duty while the remaining amount was recovered under other various taxes.
He said that during last fiscal year, the Sindh Excise department had achieved 100 percent tax targets and hoped that the department would meet its revenue target during current financial year as well.
