Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has stressesed that PTA and other internet/media regulatory authorities must introduce a mechanism which could avoid publication of such graphic content on the social media which have severe psychologically traumatic impact on the general public particularly children and cardiac patients. Taking a strong notice of mob lynching of a 16-year-old alleged delinquent identified as Rehan S/o Zohair, R/o Khudadad Colony, Bahadurabad, the commission considers this act as severe human rights breach with long lasting psychological, legal and social consequences.
Furthermore, publication of such insidious content on social media has added to the trauma of family of the deceased child and general public. The apprehension of the perpetrators has been made by the police but the commission urged the Police department to introduce a preventive mechanism where possibility of such mob acts could be averted.
