The Lahore Left Front, a conglomerate of left wing groups, organisations, parties and individuals from the provincial capital, hold a Kashmir Solidarity March on Tuesday. Trade union activists, social workers as well as political activists joined the march which begins from Liberty Chowk and the participants march from Hafeez Centre on Main Boulevard of Gulberg, said organisers. They also said that event is being held to protest against the abolition of Article 370 and 35-A of the Indian Constitution by New Delhi, curfew in the Occupied Kashmir for the last two weeks, shooting down of the Kashmiri protesters and sending in more troops in the Valley.
The protesters will also express full support to the right to franchise of the Kashmiris to decide their future as per UNO's Security Council resolutions agreed upon by India, they said. Convener Lahore Left Front Farooq Tariq appealed to the people of the world and human rights, civil rights, social rights bodies and democratic forces to raise their voices against the atrocities being committed against the Kashmiri people and express their solidarity for their struggle for fundamental human, civil and social rights including their right to self determination.
The participants called for immediate end to the occupation, illegal annexation, militarization, arbitrary detentions, and terrorization of Kashmir and the people of Kashmir, and the heinous use of pellet guns on civilian protesters. The participants also called for immediate provision of food and medicines to the affected people in the India-occupied Kashmir.
