: Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMA Pakistan) and Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan celebrated South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) Foundation Day. A ceremony was held at ICMA Pakistan Lahore Centre. Zia ul Mustafa, President ICMA Pakistan & Vice President SAFA and Jafar Husain, President ICAP hosted the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion Zia ul Mustafa, FCMA said that 'I want to congratulate the profession of accounting on SAFA Foundation Day. It is an honour for ICMA Pakistan and CA Pakistan for joint hosting the SAFA Foundation Day ceremony. SAFA is an apex body of SAARC with 10 member bodies collectively representing approx. 400,000 accountants of the region.
Jafar Husain, FCA commented that 'SAFA is an initiative for this region to develop cordial relationships and interaction. SAFA initiatives in South Asian region have elevated the quality of professional accounting. One such initiative is 'Best Corporate Sustainability Reports Awards' that has led to better financial reporting by organizations. Similarly, there is a comparison of various country regulations and laws available on SAFA website which allows regional organizations to benefit from the extent of harmonization amongst such laws to encourage working and trade in the region."-PR
