The Karachi Port handled 75,452 tonnes of cargo comprising 46,692 tonnes of import cargo and 28,760 tonnes of export cargo including 3,451 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargos of 46,692 tonnes comprised of 23,121 tonnes of containerised cargo; 12,314 tonnes of bulk cargo; 4,470 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 4,251 tonnes of fertilizer and 14,850 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 28,760 tonnes comprised of 13,650 tonnes of containerised cargo; 15,110 tonnes of fertilizer and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 3,451 containers comprising of 1,585 containers import and 1,866 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 660 of 20's and 338 of 40's loaded while 203 of 20's and 23 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 287 of 20's and 270 of 40's loaded containers while 103 of 20's and 468 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely Seaspan Yangtze, CMA CGM Medea, Chembulk Yokohama and FLC Fortune carrying containers, chemical and clinkers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were seven vessels viz. Los Angles Trader, Wehr Schulan, Xin Los Angles, Stolt Maple, Chemroad Echo Chemtrans Oceanic and TEO carrying containers, oil tankers and expeller respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 187,977 tonnes comprising 173,727 tonnes of import cargo and 14,250 tonnes of export cargo including 2,870 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 173,727 tonnes includes 27,254 tonnes of LNG; 2,017 tonnes of LPG; 49,623 tonnes of coal; 8,000 tonnes of palm oil; 8,000 tonnes of canola; 16,623 tonnes of general cargo; 21,930 tonnes of mogas and 40,280 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 14,250 tonnes includes 14,250 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,870 containers comprising of 2,120 containers import and 750 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
There was one ship namely Epic Sicily carrying chemical sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while four more ships namely Maersk Brooklyn, Nordic Harbin, Al Tessea and Golden Brilliant carrying containers, steel coil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, canola, LPG, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as five vessels viz. Iliana, CP Shen Zhen, Federal Medea, IMO and Chemroad Dita carrying coal, LNG and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were two ships viz. IMO and Chemroad Dita carrying LNG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Engro Elengy Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Friday.
There is one ship namely Cape Male carrying containers due to arrive on Saturday.
There is one ship namely MSC Bilbao carrying containers due to arrive on Sunday, while another ship namely MSC Pine carrying containers is due to arrive on Monday.
