The federal minister for aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan on Saturday said that Prime Minister Imran Khan would draw the attention of international community towards Indian atrocities in Indian occupied Kashmir (IOK) during his visit to United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in September. Speaking at a presser, here he said that due to successful diplomacy and foreign policy of Pakistan, US President Donald Trump telephoned four times to Prime Minister Khan and offered mediation on Kashmir as he wanted to defuse the rising tensions between the two countries.
The minister said that Pakistan would hold protest in New York against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the eve of UNGA meeting, in which the expatriate Pakistanis as well as Kashmiris would also participate. "The prime minister [Imran Khan] has directed to stage a historic protest against Indian state terrorism and genocide in IOK during Modi's speech at UNGA on September 26," he added.
Hailing the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government for presenting Kashmir cause internationally in an effective manner, he said the session of United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Kashmir after 50 years was a landmark diplomatic achievement. He demanded that curfew in IOK should immediately be lifted, adding Pakistan would continue to highlight Kashmir issue at every forum till its resolution.
"The government of Pakistan and the nation will always stand by Kashmiri and they would not be left alone... the issue of Jammu and Kashmir has become very serious and all the political parties are on same page on this issue," he declared. Khan said that the opposition parties in India had lambasted the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for using the troops against innocent people of Kashmir, which is enough to sham Modi, as he is bent upon genocide of innocent people to prologue his rule.
