The Lahore High Court on Wednesday vacated a stay against amendments introduced in the Constitution of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and dismissed the petitions as withdrawn.
The PCB legal advisor argued before the court that the petitions stood infractuous as these were filed under the old Constitution. He asked the court to dismiss the petitions.
The court however sought comments from the PCB on a fresh petition challenging the new amendments in the Constitution for a date to be fixed later by the office.
The petitioners submitted that the ministry of inter-provincial coordination issued the impugned notification which changed basic structure of the constitution in an undemocratic and unlawful manner.
They said the new Constitution was promulgated without taking on board the stakeholders and without holding meeting of general and governing body of the PCB.
They argued that the new Constitution deprived thousands of cricketers from their fundamental right to play cricket at domestic level and get a chance to represent the country at international level.
They asked the court to set aside the notification of the amendments in the Constitution.
