The Interior Ministry has lifted the ban on weapon licence through a notification, said sources. They said only high government officials, ministers or bureaucrats would be eligible to apply for the licence while those travelling from abroad would be facilitated to legalize the weapon they have got in a gift.
Also, the prime minister, ministers, Chairman Senate, Speaker National Assembly and Chief Ministers would be allowed to obtain a licence for weapon. Besides, the Grade-22 officers and the officers from the law enforcing agencies would also be allowed for the same, they added.
