Fake accounts case: AC extends judicial remand of Zardari, Faryal till September 19
An Accountability Court hearing multibillion rupees fake bank accounts case on Thursday extended judicial remand of former president Asif Ali Zardari and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Faryal Talpur till September 19 in the mega money laundering and Park Lane case.
Zardari and Talpur were produced before Accountability Court Duty Judge Raja Javed Abbas on expiry of their judicial remand. The judge marked the attendance of both the accused and adjourned the hearing without any proceedings till September 19.
The judge remarked that relevant judge who is hearing the case will further hear the references. While responding to a question about Kashmir, Zardari said, "Our all sentiments and prayers are for our Kashmiri brothers."
Meanwhile, the court reserved its judgement with respect to the former president's petition seeking the contempt of court proceedings against the jail authorities for non-provision of "Better Class" to him.
During the hearing, Zardari's counsel Sardar Latif Khosa said that non-provision of air conditioning facility to his client in jail is clear violation of the court order. Despite the court order, air conditioner and refrigerator have not been provided to Zardari in prison, he added.
Zardari also came to rostrum and addressing the judge said that in the past he had been provided air conditioner in jail. The same court and all other courts had given these facilities to him.
After the hearing, PPP leaders including Raja Pervez Ashraf, Saeed Ghani, Aseefa Bhutto Zardari and others met with Zardari. Heavy contingents of police were deployed in and around the court premises to avert any untoward incident.
