At least four people died Saturday at a Muharram procession in Gulistan-e-Jauhar area when an 'alam' collided with overhead electricity wires. The accident happened in Bhittaiabad neighbourhood of Gulistan-e-Jauhar area when an 'alam' was being taken away for the 7th Muharram procession. The 'alam' accidentally collided with live wires, leading to the electrocution of four men.
The injured were taken to a nearby private hospital but they could not be saved. In a statement, K-Electric said the incident occurred as a result of the procession's flag colliding with the electricity wires. According to KE spokesperson, all wires are installed within the defined parameters and regulations. The KE teams ensured timely presence at the place where the incident occurred and were in constant coordination with the procession organizers. To avoid such incidents, K-Electric had issued a statement: "Safety must be adopted during processions and majlis.
