ANP Chief Asfandyar Wali Khan has said that cancellation of the visit of Afghan President Ashraf Ghani is strong argument that a stakeholder has been ignored in the peace negotiations of Afghanistan.
Talking to media after presiding over a meeting of the central working committee of the party, he said that the issue will not take dangerous turn. He said that since the first day their stance was taking of all stakeholders of Afghan issue on board and even today they still have the same opinion that in peace talks the taking both parties into confidence is must.
He said that the restoration of confidence between the government of Afghanistan and Taliban will make the agreement sustainable. Otherwise, it will be tantamount to inviting a new war and wave of terrorism. Peace in Afghanistan is linked with Pakistan and the world for this purpose all states including Pakistan will have to make efforts for the success of peace process.
He said that lawlessness in Afghanistan will leave direct impact on the whole region and particularly Pakhtuns. Beside, this we will have to take into consideration that as long as peace process in Afghanistan is going on, terrorist activities are also on rise, whose stoppage requires serious steps.
Asfandyar Wali Khan said that the presence of Islamic State is consecutive threat to peace and in case of peace agreement, both parties would be required to unite for the elimination of IS and terrorists. However, he reiterated his stance that in light of the resolution passed by the parliament of Pakistan, the leadership of Afghans and negotiations is the only durable solution to regional peace and Afghan war.
Talking on Kashmir, Asfandyar Wali Khan said that the stance on Kashmir issue is clear since the very first day. He said that we are the followers of non-violence and of the opinion that the imposition of the ideology through violence is also terrorism and Modi government has unleashed a reign terror in Kashmir and imposing his decision on the people of the Occupied Kashmir on the bayonet of guns. He said that ANP is demanding that Kashmir issue should be resolved in light of the UN resolutions and Simla Accord. He said that Narendra Modi has not only violated the resolutions of the United Nations and Simla Accord rather has also bulldozed his own constitution on the basis of his majority regarding Kashmir.
He said that India and Pakistan has one common thing regarding Kashmir and Imran Khan and Modi have similarity in their treatment of opposition. He said that Modi is not allowing opposition to visit Kashmir while in Pakistan Imran Khan is pushing the opposition to wall.
The ANP chief recalled after the Army Public School tragedy, then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif gathered all political parties and took them into confidence while the sitting Prime Minister has not dared to take opposition into confidence on any national issue including Kashmir. He asked the prime minister to bring the details of his negotiations with US President Donald Trump before the public and should also unite opposition on the Kashmir issue. He said that ANP is also demanding explanation from the government of Pakistan and selected prime minister that either Imran Khan is not giving practical shape to Musharraf policy on Kashmir. He said that Musharraf regime, Imran Khan had supported that policy.
To a question, Asfandyar Wali said that ANP will support the decisions of joint opposition and will never follow the track of a single political party. He also refuted news regarding deals with political parties and said that such propaganda is being carried out to demoralize the people and no deal is going on with any political party.
