New Judicial Year opening ceremony will be held simultaneously in all branch registries through Video Link. New Judicial Year opening ceremony of the Supreme Court will be held on 11th September 2019 at 11:30 am in Courtroom No 1 at the Principal Seat Supreme Court of Pakistan Islamabad. The Full Court Reference will be simultaneously shown live at all SC registries through Video-Link.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Asif Saeed Khan Khosa, Attorney General for Pakistan, Vice Chairman Pakistan Bar Council and President Supreme Court Bar Association will speak on the occasion. The judges of the Supreme Court, Law Officers of the Federation and provinces and a large number of lawyers will attend the ceremony.
This ceremony is held annually on the opening of the New Judicial Year of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. This year it has been decided to show it via video link so that the lawyers can witness the proceedings in the Branch Registries.
All the advocates are therefore informed to attend the proceedings of Full Court Reference at Principal Seat Islamabad as well as four branch registries of Supreme Court on Scheduled date and time.
Security beefed up ahead of Ashura in KP

PESHAWAR: Security has been upgraded ahead of Ashura across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa here on Saturday. In Peshawar, all bazaars and markets, surrounding Imamagarahs have been shut and sealed by erecting barbaric wires and concrete block. Security plan was devised in consultation with business community, officials told this scribe here. Business community extended full cooperation to district administration, police and other law enforcement for peaceful observance of the Ashura.
Traffic wardens and security personnel were deployed on routes heading towards Imambargahs and wherein Majalis and mourners process being taken out in the city. Police frisk people before entering the mourners processions while strict checking on entry point was being carried out.
The 7th Muharram mourners procession was taken out from Imambargah Syed Alam Shah Jaffery and other smalls processions also held in the city.
CCPO Karim Khan visited different areas of city and expressed satisfaction over the security arrangements. According to the details, the security has been beefed up for the last three days of Muharram as senior police officials said 12000 policemen have been deployed in the provincial capital under a comprehensive security plan.
The entry points to the district particularly the urban areas have been further strengthened and the closed-circuit television cameras (CCTV) have been installed in a number of places to monitor any suspicious activity. Apart from regular police, policewomen and officials in civvies have been deployed in different parts of Peshawar to keep a check on suspicious movement. Concrete blocks have been placed on a number of routes of processions in a bid to tighten security.
An official said foolproof security measures have been taken for observing peaceful Ashura in the provincial capital. Even before Muharram, have been conducted 237 search and strike operations in different parts of the city to arrested suspects. According to Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Karim Khan, the police have set up 64 entry points in the city where 268 policemen have been deployed.
Besides, barricades were put up at 565 points in the provincial capital to check suspicious people. The official continued that 42 gun points have also been set up in the provincial capital.
