I would like to draw the kind attention of DIG Traffic Javed Meher to a very important and serious matter regarding the transfer of ownership of cars and other vehicles which are being used in the names of others or say in the names of sellers (not in the name of owners). Such vehicles may be more than 50 percent of the vehicles on the roads of Karachi. This is because improper, incomplete and illegal papers of transfer of ownership are also prepared in favour of the new purchasers of cars and other vehicles who take the benefit of such papers and hardly pay motor vehicle tax after purchase, thereby causes losses to Department of Excise and Taxation (Motor Wing) every year.
In this context, I would like to suggest the police department to check and compare new purchasers' names in registration books with the names of original CNICs of the owners and check all tax payment stamps on the pages of the registration books of all years.
If there exist serious discrepancies, the cars and other vehicles should be taken into custody until transfer of ownership in the names of the owners and payments of tax amounts are made.
