Prices of essential food commodities, including vegetable, pulses, live chicken/meat, sugar, fruits, flour and others have risen sharply in retail market, according to a survey conducted by Business Recorder here on Sunday.
The survey noticed that price of ginger has increased at Rs400 per kg which was selling at Rs300 per kg in the previous week. Similarly, the price of garlic had also gone up at Rs280 per kg against the price of Rs180-200 per kg in the last week.
Tomatoes are being sold at Rs50-60 per kg which was selling at Rs40 per kg in the last week. Onion was priced at Rs70-80 per kg against the price of Rs50 per kg in local market.
According to the survey, cucumber is being sold at Rs60 per kg against the price of Rs40 per kg. Green chili was available at Rs120 per kg. Lemon is being sold at Rs100 per kg which was selling at Rs120 per kg in the last week, it added.
Peas are being sold at Rs200 per kg, capsicum was available at Rs100-120 per kg, arvi at Rs80 per kg, the survey said. It added that red potato is being sold at Rs60-70 per kg and white potatoes are priced at Rs40-50 per kg.
Cauliflower is being sold at Rs70-80 per kg, cabbage at Rs60 per kg, apple, round and long gourds are being sold within range of Rs60-70 and Rs80 per kg. Bringle is priced at Rs50-60 per kg. Ladyfinger is being sold at Rs100 per kg which was selling at Rs70 per kg.
As per survey, apples are being sold at Rs140-150 per kg, peach at Rs120 per kg, mangoes within range of Rs80 and Rs100 per kg, apricot at Rs150-160 per kg, banana at Rs70-80 per dozen, black-coloured plums at Rs100-120 per kg, grapes are being sold at Rs200 per kg, mukesh melon was being sold at Rs150-200 per piece with different size and guava was available at Rs80-100 per kg.
The survey noticed the price of live chicken/meat was also increased as available at Rs181 per kg which was selling at Rs176 per kg in the previous week. A dozen of farm eggs are being sold at Rs90-100 and Rs110. Cow meat is available at Rs350 and 420 and Rs450 against the price of Rs270 per kg. Mutton beef priced at Rs850 per kg.
According to the survey, the price of sugar has decreased at Rs76 per kg which was selling at 80-82 per kg in the previous week. Similarly, good quality gram flour (baisen) was available at Rs100-120 per kg, while other being sold at Rs80-90 per kg in local market.
The survey witnessed the prices of pulses/food grains were remained unchanged in the retail market as no significant increase or decrease was witnessed. It was noted that good quality rice (sela) is being sold at Rs140 -150 per kg, while toota rice was available at Rs75-80 per kg. Dal mash is being sold at Rs170 and Rs190 per kg, dal channa was available at Rs130-140 per kg, white lobiya at Rs130 and Rs140 per kg, red-bean at Rs130-140 per kg.
The price of big-size white channa was Rs140 and Rs160 per kg, while dal chilka (green) was being sold at Rs140 and Dal Chilka (Black) being sold at Rs130 per kg. Moonge was available at Rs140 per kg. Dhoti dal is being sold at Rs160 per kg. According the survey, the price of cooking oil/ghee were remained high-side in the retail market as available within range of Rs170 and Rs180 per litre/kg, and Rs190 and Rs200 per litre/kg.
