Pakistan People's Party (PPP) may give a call of sit-in and protest against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government before the announcement of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Fazl) Islamabad March schedule. Pakistan People's Party Information Secretary Dr Nafisa Shah and Deputy Information Secretary Palwasha Behram expressed these views in a joint news conference here on Saturday. PPP Senator Rubina Khalid and party Chief Media Coordinator Nazir Dhoki were also present on the occasion.
They said that the PPP has its own strategy and plan about the call of protest or march or sit-in against the PTI government. "We support the stance of Maulana Fazlur Rehman. It is prerogative of the PPP when and where it will announce the call of protest," they said. They said, "The worst situation is being developed in the country and the PPP may give a call of protest before the announcement of Maulana Fazlur Rehman's Islamabad March schedule."
Dr Nafisa Shah said, "President Arif Alvi refreshed the memory of a dictator by what he has done in one year. He constitutionally attacked the Supreme Court and Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). The signature of the President on the bill is last process of legislation. We strongly condemn the action of the President for calling session of the Parliament in the morning and postponing it in the evening. The country is being run through promulgation of ordinances by the President."
"The Prime Minister is selected and this President is also selected," Dr Nafisa Shah said. She claimed that 40 days of curfew in Indian-occupied Kashmir have been passed but the prime minister did not raise the issue of Kashmir at any international forum. She said that Prime Minister Imran Khan is going to fight the case of Kashmir in the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and the PPP is supporting it. But Imran Khan should fight the case of Kashmir such as had been fought by Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto."
She said, "We cannot fight the case of Kashmir unless we show unity in the country." She said that the PTI government attempted many times to attack the Sindh government, first through attempting to impose governor's rule, second was an attempt to make a forward bloc in the PPP and the third and present attempt is to invoke Article 149 of the Constitution.
Palwasha Behram said that Kashmir would not be freed by singing songs, dancing and issuing statements but the government will have to take practical measures along with diplomatic efforts at international level. Senator Rubina Khalid said that at first the PTI government should invoke Article 149 in Peshawar because the KPK government has failed to complete Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project and control polio after passage of six years. She said that PTI government also failed to control dengue virus and crimes in Islamabad.
